Robert De Niro and Al Pacino have teamed up again, this time to file suit over an unauthorized commercial tie-in to their flop thriller “Righteous Kill.”
The Oscar-winning actors claim distributor Overture Films and watch company Tutima USA Inc. illegally used their names, likenesses and a clip from the movie to hawk a self-winding timepiece.
The stainless-steel Tutima Flieger Chronograph F2 “appears throughout the film” and “is perfectly designed for the adrenaline-charged action,” according to one online ad.
In their Manhattan federal-court suit, “The Godfather: Part II” and “Heat” co-stars yesterday alleged the ads “damaged [their] valuable reputations.”
A source said, “Both actors are shocked that someone would use their likenesses without their permission.” An Overture spokesman said, “Our legal team is addressing the issue.”
Tutima didn’t respond to a request for comment.
