Standing up to strikers

The Issue: How the bus strike led by Amalgamated Transit Union affects children in New York City.

Thank you to The Post for publishing this column (“A Taste of the Future,” John Podhoretz, PostOpinion, Jan. 18).

The public is in your debt. Too bad more people will not stand up to lawless thuggery.

Five-year-old little Bruno Wallace on your front cover is absolutely adorable, but his frustration shows through (“Bustards,” Jan. 17).

Some days, I feel just like him — too little and too weak to do anything about my frustrations, but flexing my muscles anyway.

May the strike end soon so that Bruno and all the kids can get back to school. May the folks in New York City and around our nation finally realize that unions hold our cities hostage.

This should not be allowed. Fire the striking union members and hire new drivers.

There are plenty of qualified folks out of work in President Obama’s economy to take their places.
