Condoleezza Rice goes to work for CBS

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has joined CBS News as a contributor, the network says.

The news was announced yesterday on “Face the Nation” where Rice made her first appearance as a CBS expert at a round-table discussion on President Obama’s second term.

“You don’t really have four years now — it starts to slip away very quickly,” she said. “You better know what you want to achieve in three years or so.”

Obama’s priority should be bridging the gap with Congress, she said.

“Out in the country, American people don’t want to see this divisiveness. They want to see the president say, ‘I won the election and here’s where we’re going and we’re going together,’ ” she said.

Rice served as Bush’s national security adviser before becoming secretary of state, the first female African-American to hold that post.
