This week’s couple: Rain delay

THE WEATHER is never something you want to discuss during a date; it means a cloud of boredom has surfaced. But since rain made attorney Erika, 27, late for her date with IT technician, Nickolas, 26, at the posh Upper West Side Greek eatery Kefi, it had to be mentioned. Did the conversation end there or did their evening brighten up?

He said:

Erika was about 15 minutes late; not a good first impression, but she quickly made up for it.

We had great conversations. I could tell she’s a lot of fun. We talked about movies, but also our favorite actors and actresses. Career is important to her, and I could tell because she was on her phone a lot. I didn’t like that, but I understood.

Kefi was excellent. We shared an octopus appetizer, and I had the lamb special. Delicious. Erika ordered a beer, which let me know she’s laid-back.

It was great to meet someone new. I enjoyed Erika’s energy. She’s intelligent, too, and I’m drawn to that. She has potential to be more, but I want to hang out a couple more times before I say, “This is it.”

She said:

The night of the date it was raining, and I was running late, so I felt bad. I was also nervous, but when I arrived, I calmed down.

I meet a lot of guys who can’t hold their own in a conversation. Not Nickolas. He is working on a movie blog, and I love movies, so we talked about things like the Oscar nominations.

I had the lamb gnocchi, which was great, as was the service. It was also a relief to be with a guy who isn’t freaked out by a girl who likes beer.

At the end of the night, we took a cab to Harlem, since we both live uptown, and he walked me to my door. We hugged. Nickolas could develop into a romantic interest, but if nothing else, he is someone I would hang out with again in the city.
