NYPD: Robbery suspect is posing as deliveryman

New York City police are hunting for a Manhattan thief who poses as a deliveryman to get inside apartments where he ties residents up and makes off with their cash and electronics.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says no one has been injured in the three robberies. All took place in October in the Greenwich Village neighborhood. Kelly says the man, between 50 and 60, wears khaki and gets inside the homes by pretending to be a deliveryman. No weapons are used.

In one case, Kelly says a cleaning woman left the apartment to do laundry in a nearby room, and came back to find him inside.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Crimestoppers hot line at 800-577-TIPS.
