2 injured in Queens house explosion

New York fire officials say two people have been injured in an explosion that badly damaged a two-story home in the Flushing section of Queens.

A Fire Department spokesman says one person was hospitalized with non-life threatening burns and the other person suffered only minor injuries in the blast, which happened just before 7:30 p.m. Monday. Their names were not immediately known.

The cause of the explosion is being investigated, but the fire officials suspect a gas leak.

About 110 firefighters and 25 units responded to the fire.
