No joke: Ben gets dot-com

Ben Silverman, the former NBC Entertainment head who left after failing to revive the struggling network’s primetime slate, is getting some CollegeHumor.

The one-time small-screen poohbah is busy doing deals to bolster the venture he started with Barry Diller’s IAC.

Although IAC has disclosed little about the company beyond the name — Electus — word leaked yesterday that Diller is discussing folding his CollegeHumor business into Silverman’s venture.

A source confirmed the report, which appeared in Ad Age. An IAC spokeswoman said more information about Electus would be released soon.

CollegeHumor started as a Web site with funny clips and pranks, but now bills itself as a broader entertainment brand. In addition to the flagship site, there is a book, a YouTube channel and a 30-minute show on MTV.
