New Jet Santonio Holmes in flight flap over iPod

This new Jet isn’t fit to fly on one.

Cops hauled a “disruptive” Santonio Holmes from an airplane after he tuned out a flight attendant’s repeated orders to turn off his iPod before landing — a troubling sign the star wide receiver is bringing his bad-boy swagger to his new team.

Holmes was on a Continental Connection flight making its final approach into Pittsburgh from Newark on Thursday when he was told to shut off his music player.

“After repeated requests, the passenger became disruptive,” said Joe Williams, a spokesman for Colgan Air, which operated the flight for Continental.

“We asked local law-enforcement officials to escort him off the plane after landing. After that, it was really out of our hands.”

Allegheny County, Pa., police, who patrol the airport, denied that Holmes was removed from the plane and said he was only asked “at one point” to remove his iPod — a request with which he “complied.”

The former Pittsburgh Steeler was not arrested and allowed to fly on to Las Vegas yesterday. He planned to attend tonight’s Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Shane Mosley welterweight fight.

“Thanks for the support but some people just want to make their name blow up!” Holmes wrote on his Twitter page yesterday. “Well congratulations!”

Jets coach Rex Ryan said the incident “kind of got blown out of proportion.” He said he planned to speak with Holmes about it.

His new player — already suspended the first four games this season for a substance-abuse violation — “should turn off his iPod,” Ryan admitted.

But Ryan said he was still impressed by the 2009 Super Bowl MVP.

“He’s at the voluntary workouts, competes in all the drills. He’s been outstanding,” Ryan said.

Holmes, 26, is no stranger to off-the-field trouble. Domestic-violence charges were brought against him in Florida in 2006 but later dropped. He was held from a 2008 game after police said they detected marijuana in his car.

A witness took responsibility when a woman recently sued Holmes for tossing a glass at her in a nightclub.

Holmes wore out his welcome in Pittsburgh, which gave him to the Jets in return for a fifth-round draft pick.
