Santonio: I was asleep in iPod flight flap

He was snoozing for a high flying bruising.

Troubled NFL star Santonio Holmes wasn’t ignoring the flight attendant who asked him to turn off his iPod during a Colgan Air flight Thursday — he simply dozed off, Jets coach Rex Ryan insisted today.

Holmes told Ryan that he switched the gadget off when asked, but he fell asleep with his ear buds still in.

The flight attendant came by again and saw Holmes still had the buds in, which prompted iPodgate.

“He literally handed the ear things to the lady sitting beside him, and she said, ‘Yeah, you can’t hear anything. They’re off,” Ryan said today.

Authorities at Pittsburgh International Airport filed a report based on the flight attendant’s accusations, and when the plane landed at approximately 9 p.m., he was questioned by police.

The gridiron great was not arrested and no charges were filed.

“He was asked to remove his iPod [at one point], in which he complied,” said the police statement.

“When Santonio told me, I totally believe him,” Ryan said. “It’s just one of those things, I guess, but I believe Santonio and I’m looking forward to being a Jet and playing here,” he added.

Meanwhile, Holmes who traveled to Las Vegas yesterday to catch tonight’s Floyd Mayweather fight wasn’t sweating the incident.

Instead he was scarfing steaks and sushi at a pricey Vegas Japanese joint, according to his twitter page.

“Dinner at Musashi Japanese Steakhouse eating good,” he wrote on his twitter page last night.
