CHSAA baseball roundup: Regis edges Salesian in extras

Ed Kelly tossed two innings of scoreless relief and then started the relay to nail the potential tying run at the plate to end the game for Regis, which defeated Salesian, 3-2 in eight innings Monday afternoon in New Rochelle.

Jake Kinsley had two hits and two RBIs, including the game-winner and Rob Mohen pitched the eighth inning to earn the save. Kelly, who moved back to right field, fired to Chris Bates, who turned and threw a strike to Kinsley, who tagged out the potential tying run at the plate in the bottom of the eighth for Regis (9-6). Salesian fell to 2-11.

Monsignor McClancy 7, St. Francis Prep 4: J.P. Lipovac scattered eight hits for the complete-game victory and Alex Miden went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs for McClancy (7-6) Monday afternoon at Cunningham Park. St. Francis Prep fell to 8-5.

Bishop Ford 13, Christ the King 0: Miguel Ariza and Jonathan Pineiro combined for the shutout and Matt Molbury belted a three-run home run over the leftfield fence to lead Bishop Ford (9-4) Monday afternoon at Juniper Valley Park. Christ the King is now 2-11.

Archbishop Molloy 3, St. Edmund Prep 0: John Duggan went the distance for the complete-game shutout, Stephen Lopez, Jonathan Ramon and Dean Sadik each had a hit and an RBI and Phil Loprete had a double for Molloy (8-5), which also beat the Eagles, 9-0, in the completion of a suspended game Monday at Stanner Field. St. Edmund fell to 3-10.
