Jack back in action

’24” star Kiefer Sutherland is expected back at work this week after missing some time due to a medical problem.

Sutherland, 43, suffered a ruptured cyst near his kidney last week and was forced to miss some time after undergoing elective surgery.

“24” producers shot around Sutherland most of last week, but the days he missed are not expected to impact the show’s schedule or the flow of episodes.

Filming was then suspended until Sutherland, who stars as super-agent Jack Bauer, returns later this week, according to published reports.

“While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and Fox decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps,” his publicist said in a statement.

“24” is in its eighth season.

While it’s not yet known whether it will return for another season, plans have been set in motion to bring the series to the big screen via a “24” movie in which Sutherland will star.
