Hurricane Ryan’s wardrobe malfunction hard to stomach

First it was Rex Ryan flipping his middle finger. This week he’s flashing his belly.

As the Jets head coach takes an offseason tour of sporting events around America, he attracts attention at every stop.

A little more than a week after flipping the bird to an unruly fan at a Miami mixed-martial arts event, Ryan decided to change hockey jerseys in front of 18,393 fans at RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C.

Wearing a Flyers jersey to a game between the Panthers and Hurricanes on Tuesday night, Carolina’s ice girls presented Ryan with a home-team sweater. Not shy, Ryan changed into it right there during a stoppage in play, in full view of the TV and arena cameras.

He almost lost his undershirt during the switch, with his substantial midsection making an uncovered appearance.

Photos surfaced on TheBigLead.com, and a video clip was shown on ESPN throughout the day — featured on “Pardon the Interruption” and “SportsCenter” — inspiring a quip from former Jets coach Herm Edwards.

“How do they know his size?” Edwards said. “The thing I’ve always told my players on the offseason is this: Don’t eat yourself outta the league. That’s not good.”

Ryan waved to the crowd, which seemed to treat him better than the one in Miami.

“Actually the Miami crowd was nice also, it was a lot of fun, but there was one particular fan that . . . but that’s the way it is,” Ryan said on WRAL, a Raleigh radio station.
