Fashion buzz: Wednesday, Feb. 17

* THESE VIPS ARE MIA

It was a night of early departures for marquee designers like Marc Jacobs and Zac Posen, who both left their own after-parties before they ended. Posen went MIA while his Rose Bar party was in full swing, perhaps to go visit Victoria Beckham’s bash on the hotel rooftop. Meanwhile, Jacobs headed to Avenue, where he partied with Shannen Doherty and Russell Simmons. He also danced with SI swimsuit model Julie Henderson, prompting a little jealousy from Lorenzo Martone, who went around all night introducing himself as “Marc’s husband.”

* LIV TYLER EXPOSED!

G-Star may be promoting their new model Liv Tyler as having “an impeccable feeling for style,” but when Buzz inquired at the G-Star show last night what makes some clothes cool and some not, Liv was dumbfounded. “I don’t know. Whatever you think looks good, I guess.” During the show, Liv spent most of it chatting to supermodel (and birthday girl) Agyness Deyn in the seat next to her. Later Deyn told Buzz that she hoped to get one of the many green outfits in the show to wear on a St Patrick’s Day trip to Ireland. Talk about March Madness!

* THIRD TIME’S A CHARM

Guns N’ Roses has already bowled over Fashion Week crowds with two surprise performances, and the show might not be over yet. “There’s a good chance you’ll be seeing him one more time before the week is over,” a source close to Axl Rose told Buzz.

* COW COUTURE

Fashion Week is billing itself as a carbon-neutral event this year, meaning IMG spent about $20,000 to offset the 950 tons of CO2 spewed by diesel generators, town cars and gift bag delivery at the tents. That money is being spent on another kind of tent — massive structures over “manure lagoons” at dairy farms in Idaho. These “bio-digesters” draw out the methane from the heifer poo and then burn it to make electricity. So as you hop around shows and unpack your gift bags, remember you have 13,700 cows in Idaho to thank for relieving your eco-guilt.

* I DON’T DO LUNCH

Betsey Johnson played dumb when we asked her to explain the serious celebrity drought at Fashion Week. Without irony she said, “I hear they pay these celebrities. I didn’t know that!” Johnson, who had Patricia Fields and Robert Verdi in her front row, declared she never pays for famous butts in the chair. “You do it because you want to do it. No strings attached. The strings are what I don’t like. That’s why I don’t do lunch.”

* SWAG SCORE

In another case of celebs getting all the cool stuff for free, Kellan Lutz and AnnaLynne McCord stopped by the invitation-only Nintendo DSi Studio at the Bryant Park Hotel yesterday and walked off loaded with a Nintendo, photo printer hair products and makeup. Hopefully the couple doesn’t forget to report the swag score on their taxes!

* AUDIO STYLE

When it comes to Fashion Week deejays, Mike Nouveau seems to be “in” for 2010. In addition to deejaying Friday’s 10-year anniversary party for Seven New York at the TriBeCa Grand, Nouveau broke in Paul Sevigny’s brand-new Kenmare lounge Saturday, provided the soundtrack for Marc Jacobs’ “secret” soiree at the Standard Hotel Monday and spun at Max Azria’s dinner party at Shang before heading up his weekly Tuesday gig at Avenue, which a source said was so busy that there was no need to book a Fashion Week event.
