Devils’ Taormina sidelined with ankle sprain

The Post has learned that rookie defenseman Matt Taormina will miss the remaining two games of the Devils’ road trip with what has been diagnosed as a sprained left ankle.

Taormina’s status is considered “day-to-day,” but he will not accompany the team to Toronto tomorrow nor St. Louis Saturday. The sprain is not believed to be serious.

Another of the defensemen the Devils pulled out of nowhere, a la Brian Rafalski and Johnny Oduya, Taormina averaged 20:40 of ice time in the team’s first 17 games before being helped off the ice during practice Sunday in Newark.
