GOP: Don’t be ‘Rangeled’

House GOP leaders are warning their incoming freshmen not to get “Rangeled,” and are handing out a survivors guide for Congress that is chock-full of tips on avoiding ethics violations.

High on the booklet’s to-do list is the instruction: “Learn key congressional ethics rules.”

It goes on to offer this lesson: “Don’t tolerate or enable ethical missteps. They are one of the easiest ways to short-circuit a congressional career.”

In a couple of lengthy passages, the booklet — which does not mention Rangel by name — advises new members to pay close attention to their “financial interests” and how they raise money for charitable or nonprofit organizations.
