Nate back at work after his surgery

Nate Berkus returned to work yesterday, nine days after having his appendix removed.

The Nate Berkus Show” host underwent surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center last Tuesday night, Nov. 30, after feeling ill during an appearance on the “Today” show.

His appendicitis was diagnosed long-distance by his Sony TV stablemate, Dr. Mehmet Oz, who was out of the country when Berkus called him and explained his symptoms. Berkus spent one night in the hospital.

Production on his show was canceled for the remainder of last week. Berkus was back in action yesterday taping holiday shows in his studio at the CBS Broadcast Center on West 57th.

“The Nate Berkus Show” is airing originals this week (3 p.m./Ch. 4) and will be in repeats all next week, with its holiday shows airing the week thereafter.

Berkus, 39, an acclaimed interior designer who rose to fame on “Oprah,” is in his first year of hosting his syndicated talk show.

In additition to his talk show, he’s a frequent contributor to the “Today” show.
