Ticket prices on the rise for A-Rod’s return to Yankee Stadium

Alex Rodriguez has devolved from a player like few had ever seen to a flaming vehicle careening towards a kerosene field, but one thing hasn’t changed — fans can’t look away.

His first game back in The Bronx with the Yankees comes on Friday night against the Tigers and tickets to see the aging slugger and his fourth-place teammates have seen increased demand since his return to the Major League roster.

According to tiqiq.com, the average ticket price for the game has jumped from $80.14 to $102.42 (27.80%) since July 31, while the number of tickets available has gone down 29.42% since his season-debut on Monday, to around 8,800 tickets.

“Currently we have seen a moderate increase in average list price and get in price for Friday’s home debut for A-Rod. Although this isn’t a huge increase like we have seen in the past for, say, (Carmelo Anthony’s) first home game at the Garden, it is still a significant increase in price over the last couple days. Price should continue to gradually move up as demand builds (especially if it is supposed to be a nice day),” Chris Matcovich, the VP of Data & Communications for TiqIQ, said.

The cheapest ticket available is $40, up 66.67% from Monday ($24). On yankees.com, there are a small number of tickets available at $54.
