Gay-be, gay-be not: Cory plays coy about his sexuality

Newark Mayor Cory Booker is again playing coy about his sexuality — a long whispered topic in New Jersey political circles.

The talk intensified after an interview with The Washington Post in which he said, “People who think I’m gay, some part of me thinks it’s wonderful.”

His GOP opponent for US Senate, Steve Lonegan, this week questioned Booker for acting “ambiguous.”

“It’s kind of weird. As a guy, I personally like being a guy. I don’t know if you saw the stories last year . . . how [Booker] likes to go out at 3 o’clock in the morning for a manicure and a pedicure,” said Lonegan.

“I don’t like going out in the middle of the night or any time of the day for a manicure and pedicure. I have a more peculiar fetish; I like a good Scotch and a cigar; that’s my fetish, but we’ll just compare the two.”

Last year, Booker seemed to set the record “straight.” Asked if he was gay, he tweeted, “I’m straight & stand for Marriage Equality.”

Yesterday, he declined to answer a question about his sexuality, but blasted Lonegan, telling the Huffington Post: “The thought that what defines manhood is the drink that you drink or the cigar that you smoke — he just really misses the boat on what it means to be man in America and . . . what true manhood is about.”
