Jets’ Wilkerson feared to have high ankle sprain

Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, an emerging star in his third pro season, exited Thursday night’s 13-10 loss to the Patriots late in the fourth quarter with a right ankle injury. Rex Ryan said he was unsure of the extent of the injury, but did say it could be a high ankle sprain, which likely would sideline Wilkerson for weeks.

“Ask Coach Ryan,” is all Wilkerson would say about the injury.

It occurred with just under two minutes to play, and the crowd booed Wilkerson, believing he was faking the injury, which was silly considering the circumstances. With no timeouts left for the Jets, the play clock was reset and the Patriots got an extra 40 seconds.
