VH1 VEEJAY HOSTS A REVIVED ‘LATER’

AFTER three years the “Later” show on NBC has finally found a host — VH1 veejay and sister of rock legend Lenny Kravitz, Cynthia Garrett.

Garrett just signed a one-year contract with the show which will now be called “Later with Cynthia Garrett,” she told The Post.

The late-night NBC show has been without a permanent host since Greg Kinear left to launch his movie career. Before that, Bob Costas hosted the show that airs after “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”

Garrett would be the first female host of a network late-night talk show since Joan Rivers’ show on Fox nearly a decade ago.

Taping on the new “Later” starts today and Garrett will be interviewing — who else? — her brother for the first show. Future guests may include Bob Dole and Bernie Brillstein, she says.

Garrett will be spending two days a week taping the show — which runs Monday through Thursday — in L.A.

She’ll then lfy to New York for three days to tape a new, 90-minute VH1 show called “The One,” which is set to launch at the end of February or the beginning of March.

Garrett said “The One” is VH1’s answer to MTV’s “MTV Live” with Carson Daly and will run five days a week.

While her schedule seems hectic enough, it could get worse.

NBC is said to be in talks to extend “Later” to five days a week instead of four.
