ODD COUPLE ED & RUDY MAKE NICE

The great mayoral feud may be winding down.

Seemingly out of the blue, Ed Koch and Rudy Giuliani – who’ve been at each other’s throats for nearly five years – are talking, standing shoulder-to-shoulder and chuckling at one another’s jokes.

Today, Koch is even planning to join Giuliani on his weekly WABC Radio call-in show.

One source said mayoral aides seem to be trying to heal the rift that has kept Koch and Giuliani apart since December 1995.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that’s what they’re trying to do,” the source said.

Koch, author of the book “Giuliani: Nasty Man,” told The Post his disagreements with Giuliani were never personal.

“We never had, even at the worst times, anything but a civil relationship,” Koch said. “It’s never been difficult for him or for me, and that’s the God’s honest truth.”

Koch and Giuliani have argued about everything from the appointment of judges to the conduct of the NYPD. But they’re in steadfast agreement on one thing: State legislators who voted to repeal the city’s commuter tax should be rebuked.

That’s why both mayors appeared on the steps of City Hall Wednesday to endorse Patrick O’Malley, who is challenging Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan in Queens.

But Koch says he’s not pulling any punches on other matters.

“I’m still critical,” Koch said. “Read my column tomorrow.”
