ST. RAYMOND’S MCCROSKEY SELECTS ‘CUSE

Louie McCroskey, a 6-foot-3 forward from St. Raymond’s, verbally committed to Syracuse yesterday.

When teammate Allan Ray went down with a broken foot last season, McCroskey filled in and became the Ravens’ best player averaging 16 ppg and eight boards.

McCroskey, who was named to the Post’s All-CHSAA second team as a junior, originally had been close to committing to Rutgers, but performed very well at the Empire State Games this summer, which were held in Syracuse.

“I really liked Rutgers, but the Syracuse program has been good for a long time,” McCroskey said. “I just want to go there and step right in.”
