This week’s couple: Heart warming

As we transition to cooler temperatures, getting dressed for a date can be a tricky task. Some nights make us sweat — others, freeze. Such was the case for Leah, 29, who met Andy, 31, at Upper West Side biscuits-and-pickles spot Jacob’s Pickles. She was fine going jacket-less earlier in the evening, but as they said goodbye, the weather cooled down considerably. Fortunately, it made a budding relationship start warming up.

HE SAID:

When I met Leah, I thought she was very cute, but a little more quiet than the girls I usually date. I couldn’t tell if she was shy or turned off by my tardiness.

When we started talking, though, things took off. We both work in creative industries, and our family life experiences are similar. The only real negative is that she lives in Harlem, a hike from my Greenpoint apartment.

The staff at Jacob’s Pickles made sure we enjoyed ourselves. I felt like I was in a good restaurant but casual enough for a first date.

We were the last to leave, and Leah was shivering on the walk back to the train, so I gave her my coat. I only had on one layer, so I was super cold. She gave me her number. I’d definitely like to see Leah again.

SHE SAID:

Andy was late, but when he arrived I was pleasantly surprised. He was attractive with a friendly demeanor.

Since we both work in the arts, we had a good conversation without getting too interview-y. We both value creativity and being in charge of our lives.

The owner of Jacob’s Pickles (Jacob) came by to say hi and was really nice, as was the rest of the staff. It’s great as a date spot or a place to go with friends.

When we left, Andy was really sweet. As we walked to the train, he gave me his jacket, which was very chivalrous of him. We exchanged numbers before I got on the train and hugged each other goodbye. I would go out with him again — I could see a romantic interest developing. It was definitely more than I expected from a total stranger.
