‘Duck Dynasty’ family launches gun line

The “Duck Dynasty” family is setting its sight on gun lovers.

Phil Robertson’s duck-hunting clan has teamed up with a Connecticut firearms maker to roll a out a line of high-capacity weaponry.

Robertson’s Duck Commander and North Haven, Conn.-based gun manufacturer Mossberg & Sons agreed this summer to design nine new shotguns, a semiautomatic pistol, and two semiautomatic rifles.

The first of those weapons were sent this week to retailers Academy Sports + Outdoors and Cabela’s, Mossberg spokeswoman Linda Powell said Thursday.

The new weapons could be on shelves by this weekend or early next week.

January marks the season trade shows, featuring the newest weaponry, so more orders are expected to be filled later this month, Powell said.

The new line of Mossberg-Duck Commander firearms have the words “Faith. Family. Ducks.” etched into each one.

“Duck Dynasty” patriarch Robertson has been in hot water in recent weeks, after making crude homophobic comments to a magazine.

A&E, the cable network which carries the “Duck Dynasty” reality show about Robertson’s family, suspended him for the comments — but quickly turned tail and reinstated him.

Since the comments emerged, videos have emerged of Robertson preaching other odd beliefs, such as his preference for teenage girls as wives over 20-something gold diggers.

Duck Commander representatives could not be reached for comment on Thursday.

Powell said Mossberg has no second thoughts about its agreement with Duck Commander.

“With the phenomenon of the family [and its reality show] and Duck Commanders, you can sense a true excitement on our part and the part of consumers,” Powell said.

Robertson has already cut ads for the new line of high-powered firearms, ostensibly needed to blow water fowl out of the sky.

“Live, be free and pursue happiness, “ Robertson said in one ad. “Do you know what makes me happy, ladies and gentlemen? To blow a mallard drake’s head smooth off.”
