8th biker charged over highway beatdown

A suspect in the brutal bike-gang beating of a Manhattan motorist turned himself in after police paid a visit to his home in Brooklyn last week, his lawyer said Saturday.

Brooklyn resident Kaliq Douglas, 28, surrendered to police Friday and pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and gang assault at his Saturday arraignment.

Officers showed up Tuesday at Douglas’ home in Flatbush.

Douglas is the eighth biker arrested in the melee that began on the West Side Highway and ended with the terrifying attack on SUV driver Alexian Lien in front of his wife and young daughter.

Douglas was one of the bikers who pulled Lien out of the vehicle and hit him “at least once,” according to the assistant district attorney handling the case.

Douglas was released on $25,000 bail.

His lawyer, Morty Katz, slammed the charges and the DA’s initial request for bail of $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond.

“The YouTube doesn’t tell the whole story. The DA is playing up to the media,” he said.

Katz even down played Lien’s injuries, saying the driver wasn’t hurt nearly as bad at the biker he ran over.

“His injuries wasn’t as severe as the one he ran over. He didn’t require surgery,” Katz said.

The beating occurred after Lien, panicked when he was surrounded by the biker crowd on the West Side Highway, ran over one of the riders and drove off. The run-over biker was hospitalized with severe injuries.
