This week’s couple: Home stretch

There’s no place like home — especially for New York City transplants. So when Brandon, 27, met Lydia, 28, they were pleasantly surprised to learn they both hail from the South (North Carolina and Tennessee, respectively) and reside in Brooklyn. By the end of their date, which included tapas, wine and a flamenco show at Wine Spot in the West Village, Brandon and Lydia discovered why home is where the heart is.

I arrived at Wine Spot a few minutes after Lydia. As I walked up, I noticed she already ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. I did the same.

She was really pretty — casual, but sexy — and I was a little nervous. When I discovered we’re both from the South, I relaxed. We both currently live in Brooklyn, so that also led to a good conversation on local spots where we hang.

Wine Spot was a great atmosphere. Each dish was a hit. The best part was the flamenco band — they put on a great show.

Earlier in the date, Lydia said she likes the “finer things in life,” which raised a red flag. But as I got to know her, I realized she works hard for the things she wants. That’s attractive to me. It would be cool to hang out with Lydia
again, especially with her living close by.

When Brandon walked in, I noticed he was tall and attractive, which was definitely a plus. I thought to myself: Handsome company always makes it easier. And his personality put me at ease in a matter of minutes.

We started talking about where we’re from and I found out we’re from neighboring states. I was excited. Southern folks are the best!

The atmosphere at the Wine Spot was nice. We were in the basement, which set the mood for an intimate flamenco show. I inquired about the craziest dating experience he had. A story about a woman who stalked him was hilarious! We exchanged numbers and will be in touch. There’s potential for fun, and he’s attractive.
