Ratings for NBC’s ‘Christmas In Rockefeller Center’ hit 7-year high

Wednesday night marked the first time NBC’s “Today Show” hosted the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting — and numbers hit a seven-year high with Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Natalie Morales.

From 8 to 9 p.m., “Christmas In Rockefeller Center” averaged 9.9 million viewers, and was up 10 percent over last year in the — all together now — “advertiser-coveted” demo of adults 18-49, its best showing in that demo (2.3) since 2006. It was also up 8 percent in total viewers and was the telecast’s best showing since 2010 (when it reached a high of 11.3 million viewers).

Speaking of Roker, his “Wake Up With Al” show on The Weather Channel (6-7 a.m.) had a good week last week, averaging 964,000 viewers — up over CNN (by 95 percent), HLN and MSNBC.

Roker will be joined on The Weather Channel next month by his former rival, ex- “GMA” weather guy Sam Champion, who’ll be hosting a morning show (details not yet forthcoming).
