62-year-old beaten by dirt bike gang: cops

A 62-year-old Staten Island man was beat up when he tried to stop a group of quad and dirt bikes from entering a public park, authorities said.

The gang had been tearing around Tottenville when they tried to enter a park near Hylan Boulevard at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, cops said.

That’s when the unidentified victim attempted to prevent the men from entering by standing in their way.

The suspect — believed to be in his early 20s — hopped off his ATV and began punching the man about the head and torso, breaking his ribs, cops said.

He was taken to Staten Island University North Hospital in stable condition.

Anyone with information in regards to this assault is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
