‘Cold Justice’ renewed for second season

Crime is paying off for TNT.

The cable network known for police dramas like “Major Crimes” and “Rizzoli & Isles” has renewed its real-life crime series “Cold Justice” for a 10-episode second season to air in early 2014.

The docu-drama produced by Dick Wolf (“Law & Order,” “Chicago Fire”) centers on former prosecutor Kelly Siegler and ex-crime-scene investigator Yolanda McClary as they seek answers in small-town murder cases that have remained unsolved for years.

In addition to averaging 2.5 million viewers over the first season, the duo’s work on “Cold Justice” has produced a guilty plea and three indictments for murder in the episode’s cases. The season one finale airs Oct. 22 at 10 p.m.

“Cold Justice” marks the second TNT unscripted series to be renewed, joining “Boston’s Finest,” which offers an up-close-and-personal look at the men and women of the Boston Police Department and is produced by Donnie Wahlberg (“Blue Bloods”).
