SI probe of Families $$

Staten Island DA Dan Donovan is investigating whether a Working Families Party subsidiary violated campaign laws in the election of Debi Rose to the City Council this year, The Post has learned.

Donovan’s “preliminary review” coincides with subpoenas issued to the labor-backed political party this week by the Manhattan US Attorney’s Office.

The federal prosecutor seems to be examining the long-criticized overlap between the WFP and its for-profit arm, Data & Field Services.

The DA’s action came after Randy Mastro, a former deputy mayor in the Giuliani administration, filed a lawsuit charging that Rose got an unfair advantage because she received campaign help from DFS.

Mastro claims Rose was given the services below market rates.

Larry Mandelker, a lawyer for DFS, said he wasn’t aware of the DA’s review and predicted DFS “will be completely vindicated.”

Meanwhile, labor leaders whose unions finance the WFP said yesterday they had not been contacted or subpoenaed in the feds’ probe.
