Texas scores 103 vs. North Carolina

ARLINGTON, Texas — Damion James led a four-man scoring frenzy that carried No. 2 Texas to a 103-90 victory over No. 10 North Carolina yesterday in the first basketball game at Cowboys Stadium.

James posted 25 points and 15 rebounds, and Dexter Pittman compiling 23 points and a season-high 15 rebounds.

USC 77, Tennessee 55

In Los Angeles, Alex Stepheson had 19 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, Mike Gerrity had 12 points and 10 assists, and USC routed No. 9 Tennessee for the Volunteers’ worst loss under coach Bruce Pearl.

Syracuse 85, St. Bonaventure 72

In Syracuse, Rick Jackson scored 18 points, Wes Johnson and Kris Joseph added 17 each, and the No. 5 Orange (11-0) pulled away from the Bonnies (6-4) in the second half.

ODU 61, G’town 57

In Washington, Old Dominion spoiled Georgetown’s annual game at McDonough Arena again, capitalizing on 18 turnovers to hand the No. 11 Hoyas their first loss of the season.

Richmond 56, Florida 53

In Sunrise, Fla., Richmond rallied from a 13-point first-half deficit, and Kevin Anderson made four free throws in the final 5.4 seconds as Richmond (8-3) handed the No. 13 Gators their second straight loss.

Rutgers 71, NJIT 62

In Piscataway, center Hamady Ndiaye had 11 points, 13 rebounds and nine blocked shots to lead Rutgers.

Mike Rosario had 15 points and Austin Johnson added a career-high 13 for the Scarlet Knights (8-2), who have won five straight for the first time since December, 2006.

Darryl Crawford scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and host Manhattan beat Long Island for the fourth time in a row.

In West Long Branch, Justin Robinson scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half as Rider rallied.

Ryan Bacon had 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Peacocks (5-5) rolled to the win over the host Knights (1-11) before an announced crowd of 214.

Kansas 75, Michigan 64

In Lawrence, Kan., Marcus Morris had a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Sherron Collins scored 19 to help No. 1 Kansas (10-0).

WVU 80, Cleveland St. 78

In Cleveland, Da’Sean Butler’s layup with 1.2 seconds left won it for the Mountaineers (8-0). Kevin Jones scored a career-high 23 in the win.
