There’s a Situation with the trademark

‘Jersey
Shore” star Mike “The Situation” Sorren tino is at the center of a patent war between his brother and a rival businessman.

Both Marc Sorrentino, Mike’s brother, and a South Jersey guy named Matthew Hunter are gunning to patent “The Situation” nickname with The US Patent and Trademark Office, according to thesmokinggun.com.

On the hit MTV reality show, recently renewed for a second season, gym rat Mike Sorrentino, 28, refers to his abs as “The Situation.”

Marc Sorrentino’s Naughty Limited, a Las Vegas firm that operates several porn sites, filed a Dec. 28 trademark application for T-shirts and underwear, according to thesmokinggun.

Hunter wants to put “The Situation” on clothing items including bathing suits, tennis wear, underwear and track suits.

(It’s unclear what, if any, connection he has to Mike Sorrentino.)

“The Situation” himself is spawning quite the cottage merchandising business; Mike Sorrentino told “Access Hollywood” that he wants to create his own line of cologne called — what else? — “The Sitch.”
