Michael Douglas’ son pleads guilty to drug trafficking charges

Michael Douglas’ druggie son pleaded guilty today to trafficking meth and cocaine.

Cameron Douglas, the son of the Oscar-winning actor was arrested in July 2008 at a Manhattan hotel, entered the plea in Manhattan federal court.

No relatives were present when Douglas appeared before a judge.

Douglas, 31, was originally placed under house arrest, but later tossed in jail after his girlfriend, Kelly Sott, allegedly tried to smuggle heroin to him last year in an electric toothbrush.

Sott was busted when she brought the toothbrush — which had 19 tiny baggies of heroin in its battery compartment — to Cameron.

At the time of his original bust on July 28 at the Gansevoort Hotel in the Meatpacking District, Douglas, an actor/DJ, had been staying in a room rented by his father.

When authorities barged in, they found the room a mess and Douglas “very strung out,” according to law enforcement sources.

An informant had told the investigators that Douglas, grandson of Kirk Douglas, was the middleman in a deal to move a half-pound of crystal meth from California to New York to sell.

The drugs were intercepted before they got to New York.

Methamphetamine sells for about $80 a gram — meaning Douglas had allegedly dealt about $18,000 worth.

Douglas — who has acted in movies including 2003’s “It Runs in the Family,” starring his father and grandfather — faces a minimum 10 years behind bars when he is sentenced April 27.

Douglas’s father, 65, who is married to Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, 40, said he blamed himself for his son’s drug problems because he was away pursuing a movie career when Cameron was a little boy.

Michael Douglas told AARP The Magazine this month, “He’s a tough kid. Still, he’s in a federal prison, and you’ve got some big, bad boys down there.”
