Back-door Dalai’s not-so-grand exit

The Dalai Lama may have visited the White House, but he didn’t go out the front door.

The spiritual leader, who visited Washington this week, had a rather undignified departure from the White House, exiting from a side door — walking past big piles of bagged garbage — on Thursday after he had a sit-down with President Obama.

The Dalai Lama’s march out the Palm Room doors took him alongside heaps of trash whose removal had been delayed by snow.

After the face-to-face, the leader of the Tibetan government-in-exile declared Obama “supportive,” infuriating Chinese leaders, who said the meeting hindered their own relationship with the United States.
