CHILLER! JACKO NOW THE KING OF POPSICLE

Michael Jackson’s mom, Katherine, has literally put her pop-star son on ice — in a freezer locker — where she secretly visits him, stunned family members revealed yesterday.

Jackson’s body had been temporarily entombed in Motown biggie Berry Gordy’s family crypt at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills until cemetery officials warned it had become a security risk.

Last week, Jackson was secretly moved under tight security to the basement of the cemetery’s Freedom Mausoleum building in Glendale, unbeknownst even to his relatives, family sources said.

Katherine is refusing to let her son be buried in an unmarked grave because she’s terrified that robbers will snatch his body or that the site would be desecrated.

So he lies alone in a small, bare brick room with beige walls in a gold casket, which rests on a white bench and is encased in a clear fiberglass container that keeps frost out, the sources said.

There’s no place to leave a sentiment or flowers in the small freezer, where temperatures range from 32 degrees to well below zero.

Even though staffers raise the thermostat for Katherine’s frequent visits, the 79-year-old matriarch still has to bundle up and can remain only a few minutes at a time.

“She cries and says she’s sorry and that she loves him,” a family source said.

Family members didn’t know of Katherine’s furtive visits until recently.

At least two or three times a week, she leaves the family compound in Encino, Calif., saying she’s going out to dinner or run an errand, according to the sources.

A nephew and driver, Trent Jackson, 40, escorts her to the building.

Katherine still hasn’t come to grips with the idea of burying her son.

Ten days ago, Jacko’s sister La Toya and oldest brother, Jackie, were supposed to oversee their brother’s burial in a plot on the Gordy compound, but at the last minute, Katherine called it off, family sources say.

When the family ordered a third autopsy on Aug. 6, Katherine used it as another excuse to keep him above ground, even though she was told that they didn’t need the body and the coroner had returned his missing brain.

The Gloved One was only a few weeks away from a yearlong concert gig in London when he died on June 25.

Meanwhile, the Jacksons have been offered a deal by New Jersey-based concert promoter AllGood Entertainment under which they would be paid $14 million to perform in an international 10-city tour. Janet Jackson would get $4 million, $1.5 million would go to each brother, $500,000 would go to La Toya and $250,000 would be paid to sister Rebbie.

Patriarch Joe Jack son and concert promoter Leonard Rowe brokered the deal.
