Recession-battered New Yorkers desperate for cheap staycations are swamping the city’s parks, with Central Park so overcrowded on weekends that people have to wait their turn to sit on a patch of grass.
“I’ve seen people standing in line to enter the Sheep Meadow,” said Doug Blonsky, president of the Central Park Conservancy.
