Kerry Washington to host ‘SNL’

‘Scandal” star Kerry Washington will make her “Saturday Night Live” hosting debut on the NBC late-night show’s Nov. 2 episode.

The booking of Washington came a day after “SNL” was in the spotlight for its racial diversity issues, when cast member Kenan Thompson told TVGuide.com that a lack of talented black comediennes was to blame for the disparity, setting off an online firestorm.

Washington was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2013 for her role as D.C. fixer Olivia Pope on the ABC drama, and would have been the first African American actress to win the category (the Emmy went to “Homeland’”s Claire Danes).

Eminem will make his sixth appearance as musical guest on the Nov. 2 episode.

Washington’s ABC series is off to another strong start.
