‘Real’ hubbies get the spotlight

Ladies, step aside — the boys are coming to town.

The people responsible for Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Orange County” are looking to capture lightning in a boob tube again, with a guys’ version of the hit reality series about (allegedly) rich people living their everyday lives.

Production company Evolution Media is shopping a male-centric version of the series to networks, tentatively titled “Boys Club: ATL,” reports Broadcasting & Cable.

It’s being cast and produced by Princess Banton-Lofters, who is responsible for unleashing “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” upon the world.

So, instead of watching the occasional shrieking harpy meltdown in a nouveau riche mansion, you’re likely to get bellowing brutes having breakdowns.

“Men’s lives are as dramatic and interesting as their female counterparts,” says Douglas Ross, president of Evolution Media, which also produced “Fear Factor” and “Big Brother.”

“The Real Housewives” franchise has been a continuous ratings success for Bravo, repeatedly breaking network records when the various series have their season premieres or finales.

The soon-to-be defunct Fox Reality Channel attempted a similar series last August, called “Househusbands of Hollywood.” In that original series, the five men of their houses — a former baseball player, a former Marine and three actors — bonded in a “man cave” while their significant others brought home all the dough.
