Mamet’s ‘7 Deadly Sins’ to Fox

The Bible is proving a hot TV property.

Fox is developing a “7 Deadly Sins” miniseries with playwright and screenwriter David Mamet, Variety reports.

The seven-hour limited series will tell interconnected stories about the human condition set against the backdrop of Christianity’s seven deadly no-nos — lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride.

Mamet (“Phil Spector,” “The Unit”) would write and direct the first episode with plans to pen at least two more episodes. He would also executive produce alongside former ABC Entertainment chief Steve McPherson.

NBC earlier this week greenlit “A.D.,” Mark Burnett’s follow-up to his successful 2013 History miniseries “The Bible,” and CBS has ordered the religious-themed miniseries “The Dovekeepers” about four women’s fight for survival in ancient Israel, also from Burnett.

Fox, for its part, has been looking to add more limited event series to its schedule like its upcoming “24: Live Another Day” reboot and “Wayward Pines.”
