CHSAA boys basketball roundup: Garcia rallies Molloy to OT win

Chris Garcia scored 13 of his 24 points in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter and overtime to lead Archbishop Molloy to a come-from-behind, 76-68 victory against Cardinal Hayes at Jack Curran Gymnasium Tuesday afternoon.

The Stanners trailed by 10 in the fourth quarter and were down 58-52 with 2:24 left in the fourth quarter when Garcia hit a free throw and then completed a 3-point play to pull Molloy (5-0) within 58-56. Christian Giles followed with the tying layup with 1:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Jalen Jenkins momentarily put Cardinal Hayes (3-2), No. 9 in the CHSAA by The Post, in front, 60-58, before Garcia buried a 3-pointer with 40 seconds left to give No. 7 Molloy a 61-60 lead.

Fadil Yacoubou (12 points) sent the game into overtime, going 1-of-2 from the line with 24 seconds left.

Chris Dorgler, who had 24 points, 12 rebounds and seven steals, opened the extra session with two free throws before Amadou Sidibe (game-high 32 points) tied it with 3:20 left. But Garcia buried consecutive 3-pointers to put Molloy in front for good.

Holy Cross 84, St. Anthony’s 75: Evan Conti had 20 points, nine rebounds and nine assists and Marquise Moore added 19 points for No. 5 Holy Cross (4-2) in a non-league game at William J. O’Meara Gym in Flushing Tuesday night

Bishop Ford 63, Cardinal Spellman 55: Arend Augustus scored a game-high 19 points and Eric Kippins netted 15 to lead Bishop Ford (4-2) Tuesday afternoon in Brooklyn. Kenny Ruiz scored 18 points for Cardinal Spellman (2-4).

St. Edmund Prep 58, St. Joseph by the Sea 36: Greg Beehler netted a game-high 16 points, David Louison had 12 points and 14 rebounds and Matt O’Neill added 10 points and six assists for St. Edmund Prep (4-1) Tuesday afternoon. Alan Siergiej led St. Joseph by the Sea (1-7) with 10 points.

Fordham Prep 61, Blessed Sacrament 41. Nihad Musovic had 15 points, Peter Carlino 12 and Brandon Goldston added 10 to lead Fordham Prep (4-0) in a non-league game Monday in The Bronx. Malcolm Covington scored a game-high 16 points and Jeremy Pena had 12 for Blessed Sacrament (2-4).
