PSAL boys basketball playoff roundup: Good stays hot as MSIT rolls past Edison

Josh Good’s remarkable postseason continued with an eye-popping shooting display Thursday evening. The senior, who missed the entire regular season because of academic ineligibility, sank six 3-pointers and scored 24 points in No. 11 McKee/Staten Island Tech’s rout of 22nd-seeded Thomas Edison in the opening round of the PSAL Class AA boys basketball playoffs.

Qwatee Williams and Osa Izevbuwa added 14 points apiece for the Sea Gulls (22-8), who now face No. 6 Wadleigh in the second round March 3 at 5 p.m. Kris Owens paced Edison (4-11) with 24 points.

No. 9 Robeson 63, No. 24 Truman 39: Shawn Ponds notched 28 points, seven steals and three assists, Tremayne Frazier followed with 26 points and Kadeem Stanislas added four points and 12 rebounds for Robeson (14-13), which visits eighth-seeded Forest Hills in the second round March 1 at 5 p.m. Star Darrel Lucky didn’t play as he was serving a suspension for breaking school rules. Truman is 3-14.

No. 10 John F. Kennedy 77, No. 23 Martin Van Buren 65: The Knights (17-9) advance to the second round to take on seventh-seeded South Shore while Van Buren finishes its season 4-11.

CLASS A

No. 21 Tottenville 60, No. 44 Washington Irving 53: Kevin Alesi poured in 28 points and Steven Santiago and Michael Michail added 13 apiece for Tottenville (14-11), which visits No. 12 Queens HS of Teaching in the first round March 1 at 5 p.m. Washington Irving is 8-8.

No. 29 DeWitt Clinton 75, No. 36 Telecommunications 58: Xavier Snagg scored 19 points in a losing effort for Telecom (7-8). Clinton (12-8) will face No. 4 Grand Street Campus March 1 at 5 p.m.

No. 30 Environmental Studies 48, No. 35 FDR 43: Daquaan Adderley had 16 points and four assists and Jefferson Francois followed up with 13 points and eight rebounds for Environmental Studies (11-6), which takes on third-seeded Columbus in the first round March 2 at 5 p.m. FDR falls to 7-8.

No. 32 Newtown 70, No. 33 Riverdale/Kingsbridge 53: The Owls (9-6) face top-seeded Midwood in the first round March 1 at 5 p.m. Riverdale/Kingsbridge finishes the year at 10-10.

No. 34 Fort Hamilton 57, No. 31 Canarsie 45: Khaleeq Baum had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Youssef Elalam added eight points for the Tigers (8-7), who visit No. 2 Long Island City in the first round March 1 at 5 p.m. Canarsie is 9-6.

CLASS B

No. 25 American Studies 71, No. 40 Environmental Science 52: Zane Vogel had 16 points and 22 rebounds, Hai Lin added 14 points and Timothy Watts had 13 points, 14 rebounds and four assists for American Studies (12-7), which visits eighth-seeded August Martin March 1 at 5 p.m. Environmental Science is 8-9.

No. 30 South Bronx Prep 70, No. 35 East New York Family Academy 48: South Bronx Prep (12-5) advances to the first round to take on third-seeded Eleanor Roosevelt March 2 at 5 p.m. East New York Academy is 7-8.

No. 33 All City Leadership 58, No. 32 Townsend Harris 53: Shaquille Joseph notched 26 points and 11 rebounds, Carlton Miller finished with 13 points and Brandon Williams tallied 10 for All City Leadership (12-3), which takes on No. 1 FDA III March 1 at 5 p.m. David Weeks led Townsend Harris (8-9)with 16 points.
