Santa’s helpers are procrastinating — 66 million Americans haven’t started their holiday shopping yet.
That’s according to a new Consumer Reports holiday poll that found 36 percent of Americans who plan to give gifts have put off doing the shopping.
Of those who have started to shop, nearly 60 percent said they still had more than half left to do.
Americans plan to spend a median of $483 on holiday gifts, the poll found.
In the online survey of over 1,100 US adults selected at random, 81 percent of respondents said they were at least somewhat concerned about limiting expenses this season, and 30 percent said they were very concerned.
In order to save money, 55 percent of respondents said they will give less-pricey gifts, 46 percent will hunt harder to find sales and discount coupons — and 38 percent said they’re cutting their gift list.
