Jacobs: I’ll still be rooting for Niners

Brandon Jacobs, unused and then discarded by the 49ers, is still rooting for them to beat the Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII.

“My emotions are I want the 49ers to win the game,” Jacobs told USA TODAY Sports. “I don’t have any regrets about not being there whatsoever. I don’t feel like I should’ve done things differently. I don’t feel anything else. I’m a hundred percent happy where I am.”

Where Jacobs is at the moment is home in Atlanta. Once the season came to an end, he was cut by the 49ers. Before that, Jacobs was suspended by the team for conduct detrimental to the team after he took to social media to gripe about his lack of playing time. He also posted pictures of himself in a Giants uniform, which did not sit well with the Niners.

Jacobs, after seven years with the Giants, signed with the 49ers but never fit in. He hurt his knee and ended up being in uniform for only two games. His on-the-field contribution? Five rushing attempts for 7 yards.

“I didn’t mean to disrespect anybody or hurt anybody’s feelings,’’ Jacobs said. “I didn’t have any disrespect. I didn’t mean to do any of that. I was told I would get some of the pie and I didn’t. That kind of made me a little upset and made me snap.”

Jacobs, 30, said he feels he will be able to resume his career in 2013.

“I feel like I’ve got a lot left in the tank, I feel so good right now. I look at last year like a red-shirt year,” he said.

Jacobs added there are 31 NFL teams he wouldn’t mind playing for, clearly crossing the 49ers off his list.
