The OTHER big game: NYPD Football Team will take on Chicago cops, for charity

In the midst of Super Bowl Sunday, the NYPD Football Team is soon hoping for a touchdown win of their own.

The team, which holds five national public-safety-football-league championships, will take on the Chicago Police Department on April 20 at Bayside High School in Bayside, Queens.

Through ticket sales and fundraising over the years, the NYPD has generated over $1 million for charities including United Way, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the PBA Widows and Orphans Fund and Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.

Members of the City’s Finest team also visits local pediatric wards throughout the five boroughs, where they motivate young patients and give them photos and signed footballs.
