Heading into the final day of the “Jeopardy! Teen Tournament” Leonard Cooper was sitting in last place, but through a series of extremely unlikely events the young man was able to pull off an amazing win and prank the show at the same time.
In the first amazing moment of Cooper’s comeback, the answer “Clavicle is another name for this bone” flashed on the screen. Cooper buzzed in, started rubbing his clavicle and answered, “what’s the…uhh…like the neckbone…uhh..collar bone!”
Host Alex Trebek awarded Cooper the points and Cooper’s comeback started to gain steam.
The first round finished, and with only a minute left in “Double Jeopardy” Cooper landed on the “Daily Double” with a score of $18,200, $5,000 ahead his closest competitor.
Naturally, Cooper wagered $18,000 as the crowd gasped in shock.
“OK, gutsy move,” Trebek said before reading the question, “In Reginal Rose’s play ‘Twelve Angry Men’, the men are all members of one of these.”
A small smile flashed on Cooper’s face as he answered “What is a jury?” thus doubling up his score.
Finally, in “Final Jeopardy!” the last round of the game and the deciding round of the tournament, the question was put to the three teenagers, “On June 6, 1944 he said, ‘The eyes of the world are upon you.”
The other two contestants gave their answers and Cooper’s closest competitor ended with a score of $35,600. Unfortunately for the contestant Cooper had a trick up his sleeve.
