The cheeky Union Jack boot (far left) is the first to make it down the runway in the show’s finale. Costume designer Gregg Barnes calls it an “irreverent” nod to the flag. The fabulously flirty Highland fling boot (second from left) is a nod to the late designer Alexander McQueen (left) and his famous tartan collection from 2006. Based on a classic men’s brogue, the turquoise boot (far right) with an orange leopard trim is dubbed “the Gentleman caller” by Barnes. Matthew Murphy

This black and acid-green metallic leather boot (from left) features a heel covered in Swarovski crystals that — when held up to the light — throw dazzling sparkles across the theater like a disco ball. The scarlet stunner gets top-billing in the show. It is constructed from three different red leathers and piped with black leather to set off its various crimson hues. Phil LaDuca says the black lace-up ghillie boots were inspired by his and director Jerry Mitchell’s days dancing in the Broadway revival of “Brigadoon.” A combination of red, black and gold patent leather, the pair on the far right are a tribute to the British Beefeaters who guard the Tower of London. “It’s like a show-girl Beefeater,” says Barnes.
