Cops shoot suspect in Brooklyn chase after he points gun at them

Cops tonight shot a gangbanger in Brownsville who pointed a gun at detective, law-enforcement sources said.

A police officer and a detective with Brooklyn South Narcotics were patrolling near Livonia and Grafton avenues when they spotted two suspects in a shootout, the sources said.

The cops pulled over and confronted one of the shooters, who turned and pointed a .45-caliber handgun at them, the sources said.

At least one of the cops opened fire, the sources said. The suspect was hit in the buttocks, and was expected to survive. His firearm was recovered.

The other alleged shooter was still in the wind, sources said.

An ambulance was called to the scene around 6:15 pm, the FDNY said. The suspect was taken to Brookdale Hospital.

The shooting went down just blocks from the scene where 16-year-old Kimani Gray was killed by cops earlier this month.

“I was on the inside eating dinner. I did heard four shots,” said Mildred Scott, 70, who lives in front of the scene.

A woman who would only identify herself as Doloris said, “I looked out the window and there was a fellow on the ground. He was on his stomach. There were police officers around him.”
