Jets blitz: Kerley comes through to end losing streak

HERO: The schedule-maker gets the game ball. The Raiders were the perfect opponent for the Jets after three straight losses. Oakland played terribly on defense and it was just what the Jets needed to gain some yards and score their first touchdowns in three weeks.

ZERO: The Jets’ front seven had a terrible game for the first time this season. The Raiders rolled up 150 yards rushing on the Jets, who entered the game leading the NFL against the run. Marcel Reece, the Raiders’ fourth-string running back, rushed for 123 yards, the most the Jets have given up to a rusher this year.

UNSUNG HERO: Jeremy Kerley returned after missing three games and it made a difference. Geno Smith seems to look for Kerley on third down and Kerley usually comes through. He had four catches for 41 yards and made an acrobatic catch for a 25-yard touchdown.

KEY STAT: 54 Percent conversions on third down (7-for-13) for the Jets after converting 16.6 percent last week (2-for-12) and 8.3 percent the week before (1-for-12).

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “It feels like we haven’t won in a century.” — Jets tackle Austin Howard after the team gained its first victory since Nov. 3.
