B’berg backs off spy cam

It’s safe to pilfer Bloomberg’s pantries again.

The financial news and information giant — which has been accused of spying on its Wall Street clients — has decided against installing surveillance cameras to stop employees from carting off soda, pretzels and other munchies.

Free snacks are a perk of working at the firm, but staffers are expected to consume the items while on the job.

“Unfortunately, over the past few months, there have been several instances where employees have been observed filling bags with sodas, snacks, fruit, and in some cases cartons of milk, to take home with them,” said a memo issued by Mike Schmidt, vice president of human resources.

Sources say that the memo, which threatened to install cameras and fire staffers for snack stealing, was not authorized.

A spokesman confirmed the memo, but declined to comment further.
