Half-cocked Southern tourist brings gun to Empire State Building

A dopey Georgia tourist thought it would be OK to walk into the Empire State Building with a loaded pistol but was arrested on the spot when he casually asked a security guard if there was somewhere he could store it, cops said.

The 39 year-old Georgia man was visiting the Big Apple with a friend when he stopped by the Empire State building to enjoy the views from the observation deck.

But he was quickly apprehended when he told security he had the .40 caliber Sig Sauer gun on him, the sources said.

Police from the Midtown South precinct quickly arrested the man who had a valid concealed carriers permit from Georgia, cops said.

Charges were pending last night, cops said.

A Tennessee woman visiting the World Trade Center memorial was arrested on the spot two years ago when she politely asked a police officer where she could store her .32 caliber pistol.
